I rode my parents' coat tails into the art and craft business. My father was a Latvian silversmith and leathercrafter. My grandfather made still life miniatures. My mother and grandmother were award winning Latvian weavers and potters. Later in life, mom tried her hand at freehand machine quilting, and excelled there too.
Having learned a lot about color, composition , and having finally developed my own style, I had to find a niche where I could shine on my own. Weaving and quilitng are still near and dear to my heart, but when I discovered beading - well, that was it! The infinite variations that can be created with those tiny seed beads, the colors available, the many different techniques that are out there - I think I will be learning new things forever.... How wonderful!
