When I was a kid, my mom tried to teach me how to crochet. My clumsy kid fingers hated it. She was teaching me on tiny hooks with thin crochet thread and for a kid with no coordination, that wasn't happening. I didn't pick up a hook again for many years.
Then, my oldest daughter got interested in loom knitting. Now, that I could do! I loved it. My fingers weren't in the way. The yarn was good-sized. And it was fun! I read books and patterns and bought yarn and more yarn. Crocheting was just around the corner at this point. In reading about loom knitting, I went online to find more patterns--always more patterns!--and began to find patterns that looked very cool.
But they were crochet patterns. Yikes!
