About

About

As an artist I make wearable sculpture and traditional black and white photography. Whether I am creating sculpture or photography I draw on the life around me as inspiration—people, experiences, architecture, nature—anything that strikes a cord in me. When I am photographing, I look for the things forgotten or unnoticed. The corner of an old window. A forgotten building. The bridge that is passed by hundreds everyday but never really looked at. The kind person on the street or in the market. My images are dark and moody yet full of life, abstracted slightly by the rich dark tones.

Life is experienced through the senses and when I create, my goal is to enliven the wearer’s senses and create an opportunity for the wearer to gain some kind of insight, understanding or spark a conversation. When I am creating wearable sculpture, I draw on the challenges I am facing as inspiration. Things that do not sit right with me. Questions I am exploring. Areas of life that I am mulling over. I use the process of creating as a way to explore my understanding of the challenge, understand the challenges’ facets and work towards some kind of conclusion. The final product embodies my understanding.
