Marilyn Crystal Ibsen's Profile

About

I, Marilyn, am delighted to work together with my daughter Crystal on this baby accessories venture.

There’s history here—both in doing creative things together and in the name. When Crystal was little she always had a very eclectic collection of junk or treasure. It depends on your perspective. She always showed a creative flair. When she was 12 I began facing the challenges that mothers of 12 year old daughters understand without having to go into detail. In an attempt to connect in a non-threatening way I suggested we look into making jewelry together. We found a business that sold beads and jewelry making supplies at wholesale prices.

She very quickly surpassed my creativity and went on to design necklaces and jewelry that people were proud to wear.

I began considering opening an etsy store of my own as I like to do quilts and have done baby rag quilts for my grandchildren. She began making baby headbands at the same time. I never envisioned that we would do something like this together but the math just came together. Now we needed a name. Do you ever get those thoughts out of nowhere just after you wake up? I do. (Start the fanfare.....) “My Monita” --my little monkey. This is what I called my daughter when she was little, would jump into my arms and wrap herself around me like a little monkey hanging on to its mother. The name stuck. And it’s a name that I hope will characterize the affection and delight our buyers have for those precious little ones that will snuggle in one of our soft rag quilts or wear one of the beautiful headbands that my amazing creative daughter has designed.
