Martine Chapuis' Profile

About

Hey...I'm a french speaking Canadian. Yes, we speak french in Canada. And I'm not from France or Belgium. I'm born and raised on Montreal island. I prefer to appoint as Quebecoise....but that's an other subject.

My name is Martine Chapuis, I'm 25.

I draw. A lot.

I can express myself in words but I prefer drawing and making comics, that's who I am and what I am good at.

I've finished a Degree at Concordia University in Film Animation. For my end of year film, I drew about 2000 drawings x 3 (mistakes, rough and clean version).

Then I decided it wasn't for me. Yep, we can do that here in Quebec, because our Univerity isn't expensive. Unless Charest and his gang of corrupt minister change all that this year…

Where was I? Ah ouais, I quit traditionnal animation (for now). I love drawing STORIES. Animation is cool, but it's too slow.

So now, I continue my studies in September 2012 in programming. I'm working on a indie game with a very talented programmer and friend:)

**AWARD AND EXHIBIT**

I was I was exposed at the Festival International de la Bande Dessinée d'Angoulême in 2011 at the Young Talent pavilion.

DeSève Prize for short film Let Me Out, sholarship from Concordia University 2009

**MY FAMILY**

My mom is quebecoise and my dad has arrived in Switzerland at 17. Two artists, two great people I love enormously. They support me in all my projects.

I have a little sister who unfortunately live in France. I keep seeing my big sister who does not live not far from home.

**WHY?**

It all started with a pinback button machine and a friend from Colombia.

We got a table at the Artist Alley of Comic Con Ottawa 2012. I was selling custom portrait on small pinback buttons. I remember being really scared. I thought people wouldn't like it.
Fortunatly it was a real success, people loved it. Lots of kids but geeks too. People in costumes and just plainly people thinking it's awesome to have a miniature, portable portrait of themself.

Now I'm not just selling mini art on pinback button. I'm selling prints and drawings too.
