Mary Richmond's Profile

About

Thanks for stopping by to look at my work and for supporting handmade! I love to draw and paint and try to do at least a little bit every day. I work mostly from life and if I can get outside to sketch or watercolor, all the better. I scan and print my own prints, cards and jewelry pieces as well as construct my own jewelry and paper cutouts and supply packs.

You can see my original watercolor paintings, prints and cards at

I have been creating and selling art work out of my home studio on Cape Cod since 1979. Before that I helped put myself through college selling my woodcuts and hand printed cards at the student center where I went to school.

I have been creating and selling art work out of my home studio on Cape Cod since 1979. Before that I helped put myself through college selling my woodcuts and hand printed cards at the student center where I went to school.

For over 30 years I made my living as a ceramic tile designer. I closed that business early in 2011. These days I am concentrating on building my Cape Cod Art and Nature business, providing interactive programs for all ages that use both art and science to help enrich people's enjoyment of the natural world. My website and blog are at http://www.capecodartandnature.com

Seasonally I sometimes work free lance as a naturalist for local environmental and nature organizations. My weekly nature columns and illustrations are published in several area newspapers and I also write features and reviews for them and various magazines.

It is my hope that my love and deep respect for the natural world comes through in my work. I paint from the heart and it is my wish to share the hope and joy I find in nature with you.

If you are looking for my paper cut outs and card kits I have moved them over to their own shop here http://etsy.com/shop/cutoutthefun

And by the way, I sell a little vintage, too--mostly things my grandmother and mother saved that I no longer have any use for http://etsy.com/shop/munastreasures
