I learned to felt at a Steiner school Spring fair doing a very quick, basic workshop with the kids & loved the process so much i went home & googled further info & tried to source supplies! Since then i have hand-felted at least 100+ bespoke hobby horses & probably as many play mats using the finest Australian hand-dyed Merino wool & silk fibres. I have found amongst those who purchase my creations many Waldorf Steiner families with young children, home schooling & unschooling families with kids of all ages, teachers & travelers, horse lovers, nature-lovers & lovers of handmade, beautiful things. I love connecting with others & am constantly humbled when others adore my creations as much as i do! I feel passionate about the 'open-endedness' of my items as childrens' imaginations are endlessly more wondrous & beautiful than any 'item' we can provide them with, my intention is to create a starting point from which pretend play & adventure can grow. I have watched my own children & their playmates playing with their horses & believe they can feel the authenticity of their Woollie steed, each being as unique & individual as the children themselves & also having been made with love. All my stuff is made in-between mealtimes, markets, coffee with friends, cups of tea with my grandparents, breastfeeds, most recently school-runs & a little bit of Etsy-surfing i do admit! I am a lover of felt, be it my own or others - notably my dear friend Annapurna over at The Felting Pot www.etsy.com/people/feltingpot - of fine & beautiful textiles (wool, silk) from clothing to Persian rugs, and the 'perfection' of nature as it is, as it should be.
