Hey hey everybody!

It's Maria and thank you for visiting Maria Day Handcrafted Jewelry.

Here we will take part in a journey of mine...

I have been involved in the arts since childhood, yet dance is the form that I have and still dedicate my life to.

I am currently an independent artist in Dallas Texas. I am a professional dancer, teacher, choreographer, and jewelry artist...among many things... ;)

My designs are inspired by elements you would find in dance such as,(but not limited to), movement, shape, texture. About

As a dance professional and long term supporter of the arts, handcrafting and designing jewelry naturally found itself into my life. I enjoy creating from traditional and non-traditional materials; but I am particularly fond of copper because its rich history, versatility, and organic qualities.

Jewelry is another outlet for releasing creative ideas. I simply need to express my creativity in another art form. I do not do this out of vanity because I don't get anything out of it. I love art because it is a celebration of the artists vision and perception of the world around them. I love how art has the ability to touch and unify people. Expressing my vision through jewerly is just another way for me to share with someone else.

When I create I have an idea, look at the materials and ask my self how I would make this work on a set of earrings or on a bracelet. I don't worry about function or practicallity because to me that is not important nor is it the purpose to what I am doing. However, if something I created is practical and functional it organically happened. I want people to look at my jewelry and feel that it came from a natural place rather than a forced one.

When people try on my jewelry, I am always pleasantly suprised because I never know who would be attracted to what.

When people buy my jewelry I want people to feel special. Right now I am currently working on making a certifcate of authenticity for each and every peice of jewelry. In doing so it's an added value to treat it more like an art collectors piece rather than something you throw in your jewelry box and forget about as well as damaging the piece(s).

I handcraft everything in my jewelry from chains, to ear hooks. Nothing is store bought so far...I'm an addict! LOL! :)

Stick with me and lets take this journey together!
