Hello & welcome to mdk jewelry designs. My name is Misti Dawn Kallas.

I was desperately trying to find a creative outlet. I tried being a mini Martha. Well, that didn't work. So, one day, I went into our local bead store & asked someone to get me the components to make a bracelet. I went home and sat on our bed and figured it out. Then for Christmas one year I made some really beautiful bracelets out of cane glass. So, 9 years down the road this is where I am--and loving every darn Etsy moment!!

Life inspires me. The Mary necklace was an inspiration of two things: my friend Mary who loves orange & the beautiful West Texas sunsets. The most gorgeous orange hued sunsets. Coloring with my two boys has inspired some pieces. My great friend Whitney inspired a hand knotted ravens wing pearl & muscovite necklace with an ocean jasper drop. And even once a cocktail inspired a whole collection of necklaces.

I am compelled to try other things. Here is my list of things to accomplish. I want to learn to glass blow. While vacationing in Boise, Idaho, my husband & I went to the Boise Art Museum. They had an exhibit on Dale Chihuly. I was mesmerized and have been a huge Chihuly fan ever since. And to finish off my list I would love to learn to paint, faux finishing, draw, pottery, sewing, lamp working, metal smithing, black and white photography, well, you get the picture.
