Holly Shaw's Profile

About

Holly & Richard have been married 32 years, 31 of those years at Meadow Point, our little homestead. Vegetarians since we were teenagers , our goal has always been to live simply and lightly on the earth. We have our organic garden, chickens (eggs and pets), geese (one cranky gander),two dogs and three cats to care for in between creating pots and tiles. Also tracking our two grown children's lives and now twin grandsons always keeps us busy, as all parents and grandparents can attest !

Richard attended the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art and is a self-taught cabinetmaker. His tiles are used for decorative purposes in kitchen, bath, and fireplace surround applications. These are painstakingly glazed individually with great care and show his penchant for minute detail. After days in his little garret-of-a-studio he emerges with the latest creations. These tiles, each one unique, grace homes across the country and overseas .

Holly began with clay in the early 90's and attended classes given by a local master potter. More classes followed with other potters and lots of personal experimentation with form and glaze combinations. During this time she also worked in a landmark tropical greenhouse and became immersed in horticulture. The pottery frequently combines the love of both clay and the botanical world and hopefully celebrates both.
