About

Hey! I'm Mere, and I've just started selling on Etsy. I've been a buyer for a couple of years now, but I've really been wanting to try my hand at selling. I love to create with upcycled things. When I was little, I always wanted to save things so that they could be reused instead of just being thrown away. Now I actually get to put that idea to use!

I've really been inspired by the Fallout games, and for now most of the things I will sell have a post-apocalyptic or post-modern theme. I've also really felt inspired by the Bioshock games, Assassin's Creed games, and very much by Oblivion and the Shivering Isles expansion. I'll probably attempt to expand out into these areas.

Another thing that I find fascinating is the history of the city I live in - Troy, NY. It's where I got the name for my shop actually. Troy is known for its iron, or at least was…

Another thing that I find fascinating is the history of the city I live in - Troy, NY. It's where I got the name for my shop actually. Troy is known for its iron, or at least was some time ago. I was exploring some local ruins and found remains of an old ironworks, and one of the giant buckets used to move molten metal by rail. I haven't been able to stop thinking about what the place must have been like! As a tribute to those days, I named my shop TheFoundryJewels and used a picture I took of that giant hunk of rust as the background for my business cards.

Just me though? Outside of this whole website's idea? I'm a moderately broke college student studying Classics, hoping to one day teach Latin to other broke college students! I love classic cars and muscle cars in general, my dream car being a 68 Chevelle, but actually driving gives me panic attacks if I'm not careful. I love to read and write. I work at an independent book store, and the experience I've had there is wonderful. Right now I'm doing an internship at a book printing company called The Troy Book Makers, and will be publishing a book of my own short stories through them as my project. I'm also working on writing a series of books that is currently planned out to be a mixture of trilogy, character stories, a spin-off series that merges into the main story, and companion books to the universe - which all together totals 17 books thus far. And yes - I have started all of them, and no I haven't managed to finish any yet!

Oh, and I'll be studying abroad in Greece this fall!!!
