Welcome to my shop….whether you are here to select a gift, choose something special for your own home, or just look around, I`m so glad you have stopped in.

All the most important women in my life have sewed and done needlework. My Ohio grandmother was a seamstress and dressmaker. My New England grandmother had an enchanting cottage full of antiques and rugs she had hooked and braided herself. Each Christmas, my Michigan aunts sent us a box of quilts, or sometimes only the quilt tops if it had been an especially busy year on the farm. And my own mother sewed clothing for us, did mending and darning, and made curtains and other household articles.

Is it any wonder, then, that my comfort zone is in a workshop overflowing with fabrics, vintage linens and laces, spools of colorful thread, silky embroidery floss, and piles of vintage buttons?

I enjoy sewing small creations that are evocative of past experiences -- I often think of special times or places or people as I`m sewing. I like to use vintage linens and buttons that I have found on my frequent treasure hunts around Victoria or during visits to other cities and towns.

In addition to my own sewing, I feature the sewing of our mothers, grandmothers, and great-grandmothers in this shop. Many of the beautiful pieces they left for us are undervalued, neglected, and even thrown away. I really enjoy the challenge of rescuing damaged vintage linens, restoring them to as close to their original beauty as possible, and then then finding good homes for them so they will be appreciated. They will still give years of service and pleasure if cared for properly.

My desire is to promote a greater appreciation of the needlework that women have done over the past century. Take a moment to look closely, and try to imagine the skill, patience, care, and time that went into each piece. In addition to the artistry, these articles are made from pure, natural cottons and linens which are lovely to use in the home. Start collecting today….it will be the healthiest obsession you ever had.

Please stop in again soon. I will be adding lovely and interesting new items from my workshop and treasure hunts regularly.
