Melanie Land's Profile

About

I thank you for taking time to read a little of my history. Welcome and make yourself at home.
I simply love to create! I’ve been doing creative projects since I was a kid from the paint by number sets to the creative stained glass kits, sewing, drawing and painting. My parents were well traveled and made sure that my sister and I were exposed to some of the most beautiful sights in the world. Perhaps because of their appreciation for the arts I choose Fine Art as my course of study in college. My degree is in fine art and design. I am also a professionally trained landscape artist.
After college I married and began my career with architectural elements and landscape scenes as my main subject in my oil on canvas paintings. Oil on canvas was my favorite medium, and still is one of the most satisfying for me.

The Deep South, where I am blessed to live, has a never ending treasure trove of beauty. Whether man-made or nature’s abundance I have a never ending palette to choose from. My favorite pastime is gardening where vivid color saturation offers up a palette in abundance, touch by the hands of God. I am more at peace in my garden watching the geese with their young brood on the lake as they travel the edges waiting for me to take my gloves off, release my tools and go inside so they might check all the seed heads for a tasty snack.
As we began our family with a daughter my focus drifted to French hand-sewing and smocking. I designed almost all of her clothes along with bonnets, which she hated but they looked too cute. Our daughter and her husband have blessed us with the most precious grandson, Landon. He is learning how to appreciate nature and it's beauty while still picking the flower with no stem yet, just the flower.
We grew as a family with two boys. I designed their smocking plates because I could not find cute designs for “big boy”. So along came helicopters, soccer balls, trucks and dinosaurs. I have learned, however, that little boys will wear lace collars just so long.
All of my life I have loved jewelry! There is just something about the creative juices that flow when I am lost in a new design idea. All women, I think, love to adorn themselves with art in one form or the other and jewelry is a wonderful release for those inner desires of love, hope, joy and faith. Just the right piece of jewelry, along with a good hair day, can make your week. Each piece speaks of the new owner’s personality when you make a selection suited for your lifestyle.
It is my true pleasure to be able to design jewelry for all your needs. I would love to hear from you about what you might like incorporated into a design just for your tastes.
Kindest Regards Always,
Melanie
