I have a passion for art as a therapeutic tool. I completed my undergraduate education in Art Education and Psychology because I wanted to learn more about using art to help people achieve healing and growth on their spiritual journey. My current work is primarily in acrylic paintings and utilizes various materials as a narrative, telling my personal story to the world.
In the textured rainbow series, I explore the relationship between people and the objects they own. By repurposing old objects, I incorporate part of my family history into the life of the painting. The pieces start as a collage of found materials...scraps of ribbon or lace from my grandma's sewing room, a loose button off a favorite shirt, sand from a friend's beach wedding or the beautifully colored leaves that litter our sidewalks in the fall.
