Hello!

My name is Melissa, I am a trained metalsmith and art historian which makes me...really good at crossword puzzles! I studied with Bruce Metcalf at Kent State University and was taught that no matter what media one decides to pursue, good craft is one's primary concern. That means that even if I tie a piece of glass to a shoelace I'm going to make sure it is done the right way with no shortcuts. No Krazy Glue in my tool kit!

Because I've got a healthy bit of wanderlust I've never had the resources to set up a proper metals studio which is one of the reasons I like working with beads.

Truth be told, I've always loved beads, even before I started any beadwork. I love visiting local beadshops in different cities to pick through stashes that usually contain at least one treasure. My current work is pretty detailed and labor intensive; I enjoyed some of the more tedious aspects of metalwork and enameling like sanding, dapping and stoning so these bracelets appeal to my interest in the zen art of repetitive tasks.

I don't want to get too long winded here so if you have any questions please convo me. In addition to my mad crossword skills I'm also a wordsmith with a flair for humor so I promise not to disappoint.

Thanks again for checking out my wares. You've made my day by stopping by!

A note about my shop name: Mellaril, in addition to being an MAO inhibitor psychotropic medication, is a nickname given to me by my BFF in high school (a long time ago!) and Ephemera because it's all temporary, baby.

Have a great day and BUY HANDMADE!!
