Micah Stuart's Profile

About

Hello, my name is Micah Stuart and I am addicted to flames, sparks, molten metal, cut and abraded fingers, and that burning bright polish on a finished masterpiece.

My experience with jewelry leads back farther than I've bothered to remember. I have never taken a class or studied under a tutor, but to say I am completely self taught would hardly do justice to all the wonderful people who put tools in my hand and let me go nuts. I have spent numerous years as a jewelry repairman, Salesperson, and all purpose jeweler. That being said I know how important it is to render a product that is clean and precisely measured to fit. Eventually I planned my escape from the retail world, and now I can enjoy the blessings of sleeping late and being my own boss :-)

DURABILITY is a key concept when I envision my jewelry. Consequently, My lady love and all time favorite medium is STAINLESS STEEL! Stainless has a bewildering array of preferable properties that, in my opinion, make it a fantastic jewelry material... albeit a grossly under used and underestimated one for today's craftspeople. What I gain in a signature material; I give up in blood, sweat, tears, and time. Its a hard metal that will not easily form or bend with any conventional jewelers tools/techniques. Regardless, I am bound and determined to show you some things you never thought possible.

Oh yah! Honorable mentions are Titanium, Niobium, Gold, Silver, Platinum, and copper. All of which im sure you will see in my shop periodically.

Metal of ages is the name, and I certainly hope that from a glance at the title or a quick browse around the shop you've discovered my muse. As often as possible I look to the knowledge of ancient metalsmiths; trying to uncover their motives, and repurpose it for a new generation. Wearing jewelry is an integral part of history and the human experience! So many have come before us and spent every waking hour in their craft. Those people are the ones I want to emulate, while still staying firmly grounded on the inspiration that flows from MY mind to my fingers... And hey, if I come up with something completely random along the way as well, I'm sure you'll understand. I am a slave to my overactive imagination.
