Michele (Wood) Dodds graduated with an M.F.A. in 1995 from Illinois State University. Her influences include Casper David Friedrich, De Chirico, M.C. Escher and Dr. Seuss. Working with color has been a passion since her early childhood. She enjoys creating imagery from her own imagination. Whimsical gardens, exploration, changing seasons, swirling clouds and fantasy landscapes are some of her common themes. Michele enjoys creating expressions of peaceful moments and reflection, moments which encourage the viewer to look into the distance, symbolizing her thoughts of God and that vast beyond which we all lack the ability to comprehend in the here and now. The subjects seem to take a reflective stance at the edge of some glorious place that lies beyond the vantage point of the viewer; a territory of space and emotion not chartable by reason alone. She lives in Orange County, CA with her husband, Brian, daughter, Olivia and two cats, Waffles and Rufus.
