When I was 16 I started my first handmade business. I made hats and sold them to friends. I quickly moved on to making clothes but got distracted by the music scene in Olympia, WA when I moved there in 1992. I didn't start up sewing again until around 1999 but it was in the form of upholstery.
I love vintage furniture and ended up teaching myself how to re-upholster furniture by making many mistakes but loving every minute of it. I started making vinyl bags, purses and leather goods as well and started selling them on the fantastic www.buyolympia.com under the name Basement Creations.
I was making handmade items full time and learning some great skills as well at a part time sewing job. But in 2002 fortune struck, my life changed and I met my future husband and moved to England soon after…
