this shop is the NEW home of "greenstarstudio".
after 13 years in business as "greenstarstudio", i've decided to split my business in half, leaving my fine art, prints and illustrations with greenstarstudio and relaunching my plush & children's work as " *might "... I'm glad you found me here!

while I get through the holiday show season & adjust to life with my young son, please refer to the statement below, for more information about my company (and I promise I'll update it in time for the official re-launching in January 2012!).

greenstarstudio is danamarie hosler, a children's illustrator who loves knitting and painting and gluing things together. my work is based around the idea that art should be accessible and available to all people, in all forms, decorative, framed or cuddly. a graduate of the maryland institute college of art and published illustrator, danamarie has spent the last decade making and sharing her soft sculpture & homegoods, as well as teaching and mural-ing. she loves chocolate chip cookies and is hopeful that she can turn her shedding german shepherd into a wool factory.

i sell my work in retail locations around the country & at art festivals & galleries. i was a proud contributor to Plush You 2007, 2009, 2010 & 2011! and will have work in the upcoming show "Plushed" at Purdue University in Indiana. Earlier in 2007, my Knitimals were finalists in two categories of the prestigious online International Softie Awards... later the same year, Knitimals were finalists in 2 other categories of the Holiday Softie Awards & a very special Knitimal named Dr. Benedict swept the "Worst Gift i ever Got" category (Dr. Benedict is a Knitimal version of a tonsilitis inflamed tonsil... that's the worst gift *I* ever got for Christmas... nothing like a sore throat when you should be eating Christmas cookies!).

as for my work:
*Knitimals™ are made without patterns (sometimes without so much as a plan!) and the price depends on the materials, size and complexity of the piece. i believe that everyone should own at least ONE thing that only they have--- so i won't (and to some extent, can't) replicate a sold piece, but i do take custom orders and would be happy to help you build your perfect Knitimal.

*each Knitimal comes with a hand drawn name tag, 'story of the knitimals' tag and care instructions.

*washing machines aren't completely off limits, but i would highly recommend spot cleaning--- pretend your new friend is a very nice angora sweater. that said, Knitimals ARE made for kids and are sewn to withstand a fair amount of play.

*my homegoods are all hand drawn/ painted/ collaged by me, and feature my original characters and designs. as with the Knitimals, i can't replicate a piece, but would be happy to custom design a piece for you.

*Otherwise, if you want to be kept up to speed on new and available work, please email me to join my mailing list. I promise not to bug you too often and to keep my messages fun to read.

*i will ship anywhere, but would like to hear from you first if you have shipping questions or concerns. within the U.S., shipping is relatively easy and will go by First Class mail (if it's under 13oz) or Priority Mail if it's over. Outside of the U.S., let's chat first & figure out a shipping option that works for both of us. my personal preferred method is Priority Mail International (flat rate or otherwise), with Insurance & tracking, but the LISTED shipping rate, for MOST items, is for FIRST CLASS (which is far less expensive).

I am leery of sending the higher priced & truly one of a kind art pieces via First Class mail, so for higher priced pieces, the listed shipping rate is for Priority International. It IS a lot more money than First Class International; however, it allows my international customers to track their packages, as well as purchase insurance if they choose to do so (First Class International tracking information is not available after it leaves the U.S.).

*If you are an international customer, and would prefer to ship one of the pricier items via First Class International, please convo me and I will refund you the difference for shipping. However, PLEASE NOTE THAT GREENSTARSTUDIO WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR TRACKING, REPLACING, OR REFUNDING LOST MERCHANDISE SHIPPED VIA FIRST CLASS INTERNATIONAL.

*my shipping charges include: fees & handling to ensure a happy and safe delivery of your purchase. if i significantly over estimate the charge, i will happily reimburse for overpaid shipping.

*Insurance is not included with shipment; however, if you would like to add insurance (recommended for pricier, custom, or one of a kind items), contact me and I will provide a quote for the adjusted shipping rate. Because these items are one-of-a-kind art pieces, i would highly recommend insuring the shipment--- there are NO REPLACEMENTS or refunds!

*all sales are final, but i am positive you'll be thrilled with your purchase. all products come from a smoke free home and are packed with love.

*i'm a proud member of the Baltimore Etsy Street Team (B.E.S.T!)
