I am Miles Gavin, I’m a ceramic artist and have a studio in Sheffield thanks to the Yorkshire ArtSpace Starter Studio Program. I specialise in grotesque animals and insects and sometimes delve into jewelry based on these items. My work is quirky and slightly tongue-in-cheek which gives it a modern and unusual edge by using common subjects in a new and exciting way. I am obsessed with stoneware and love the process of turning mud to stone. The burnt and bright colours that can be achieved keep me forever inspired, and the waterproofed vitrified surface is like nothing you can achieve with lower temperatures!
