About

I am a homeschooling mom of 9 children who enjoys science and math extensively! Because of my own skin sensitivities and those of some of my children, I have been creating my own organic and vegan skin care products for many years. I like to work with natural fibers when quilting, knitting or crocheting and recently, with my children and husband, have built a large raised bed garden and begun growing organic vegetables and herbs, some of which are used in my skin care products which is exciting to me! My husband and I have encouraged all of our children to have businesses of their own at one point in their childhood so they could learn the value of a dollar and understand the work that goes behind getting one. They have had small engine repair businesses as teens, baked whoopie pies and sold them in the driveway, made felted wool book marks and dryer balls to sell at fairs with me, made bird suet cakes, and the youngest two have recently begun to come to fairs and teach other children to "finger knit" and also make balloon animals. With the older children getting married and beginning to start families, the younger 5 boys still at home, and no babies or toddlers running around anymore,( and lots fewer runs to the dr. and the ER!) this is a new stage of life where there is more time to create and invent. I am amazed at how much the children can do at such young ages when given a chance, although sometimes it involves me leaving the room so I won't "help" them problem solve or be tempted to do "it" for them. (Otherwise I might have to don handcuffs and duct tape to make sure I stay out of the way!) On that note...I think I shall knit.....
