About

A rusty bottle cap…one of my favorite finds! What could it become?.... a hat? a toe? a nose of some kind? It truly is all about trash to treasures for me with Mixed Media Max. That name came together for several reasons. I love to work with all kinds of art materials, and in all types of mediums and techniques. As a recently retired elementary art teacher, time to create my own art work has increased a bit, so I try to MAXIMIZE every moment! And then there is MAXwell, my Scottish Terrier……he’s always a part of the act!

I’ve been creating my Funkie Junkie Friends and Junkyard Dogs for several years, but the found objects, antiques, hardware, and just plain junk have called my name for as long as I can remember! For a change of pace, I sometimes enjoy using Mother Nature’s treasures to create Native American style masks and figures made from gourds. While these found objects and end products may differ, the process of assemblage and using various textures and techniques is very similar.

I hope you enjoy my Junkie Friends and other items as much as I enjoy creating them!
