Monica Farguell Perez's Profile

About

My name is Mònica Farguell. I studied in Barcelona and completed my degree in Graphic Design in 2000. I spent the next nine years working as a designer for advertisement agencies across Europe.
In 2008 I took a sewing class with a friend just for fun, and it awakened something inside me. I realised I had a passion for fabric and loved to make beautiful things. From there I started to design and make bags for my friends.
Soon after, my boyfriend and I set off to travel around the world: we had been saving for 3 years and it was part of our long-term plans.

We travelled for 15 months from Mexico to Chile and from New Zealand to India. During the trip I made up my mind that I wanted to redirect my career, leaving aside graphic design. I decided to take the plunge and direct all my energy into my personal project, which I named: Mofa Barcelona.
The trip provided me with a wealth of inspiration and ideas as well as the opportunity to buy large quantities of genuine fabrics from wonderful places like Guatemala, Indonesia, Thailand and India.
When we returned home I starting designing and making bags full time in order to shape my dream of building my own brand (and I am loving every minute of it). I am currently also studying fashion design in Barcelona while continuing to create my seasonal collections.
Mofa Barcelona blends the design and creativity from the city where I grew up with the fabrics and inspiration from every corner of the world.
