Some moms spend time with their children by reading to them or taking them to ball games. Some take their kids to karate, music or dance classes. While all those things are terrific, those were not the only ways my mom and I spent time together.
My mom was a craftswoman, a business woman, a homemaker, a plumber, a construction engineer, a gardener, a chef...you name it she did it! On holidays and birthdays there was a good chance that her gift to you would be something she made. Around the house, if there was an electrical or plumbing problem, she would tackle it and she enlisted the whole family by assigning tasks she deemed suitable for their skills. She loved quilting, crocheting, needle point, knitting, well you get the idea, if she could invision it she could make it, build it or grow it. Along the way, she made me learn how to do it all too.
