Nancy Hicks' Profile
Life isn't about how to survive the storm but how to dance in the rain.
The materials and tools in my hands really thrill me -- dichroic glass beads the colors of peacock feathers, my big scary torch, spheres of ocean jasper that look like slices of the earth, saws and hammers. I love to watch metal submit and transform in my hands.
But my favorite part of what I do is the people: I've created the perfect necklace for a bride, given a little girl her first pair of earrings, watched a mother gift her daughter with one of my necklaces as a symbol of her pride and respect. I've had husbands and boyfriends search through my pieces to find the one that will communicate love to their woman. Wow. What a gift to contribute to these precious moments in the lives of other people!…
