Motel66. In the nine years that I've been on the road around this world I have met many characters, some will be lifelong friends. Tourist havens were never my scene except maybe Venice Beach, California. I love the nightime dens where the real colour is, the places you should drive on by. Motel66 is a tip of the hat or a salute to the nighthawks I've drank with around this globe, the kinda people you find in a Tom Waits song, the dancing girls in Jumbos Clown Room in Hollywood who are only just surviving with a kid at home and working hard for tips, the waitress at the diner who just needs a break and the crazy cat lady who'd give you her last cigarette for a half hour of your time for a chat. These are the real people of the sunburned back-roads of America who are the embodiment of the spirit of Motel66.
