Growing up in the rolling hills of Pennsylvania, I spent hours drawing my neighbor’s horses and the old barn across the street. When I was very young and began to develop a serious interest in art, my father advised me never to trace anything in order to improve my drawing skills, and it proved to be sound advice. My mother encouraged my creativity, permitting me to paint scenery on white panel doors in our house, decorate my bedroom in unusual colors and made sure I took art classes. I spent my youth drawing and painting, and upon completion of high school attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. I had the opportunity to study art in Florence, Rome, Paris and London during that time, which was a valuable experience. To further develop my career, I moved to Chicago and began working as a freelance illustrator for advertising agencies across the country. Newspaper and magazine advertisements, book illustration, billboards, and package illustration are just a few of the uses for my artwork. Clients have included McDonald’s, Burger King, AT&T, Pillsbury and Coca Cola as well as many other well known corporations. In recent years I have expanded into designing pewter ornaments, wine labels, rubber stamps, greeting cards and even surfboards, illustrating for clients in the UK and Australia. On a local level, I am enjoying promoting my limited edition prints, which has provided me the opportunity to meet many interesting people through “Meet the Artist” days at shops that display and sell my artwork. The architecture in Chicago is so inspiring, I never tire of illustrating the many landmarks the city has to offer. I hope you enjoy my art as much as I enjoy creating it!Warm Wishes, MarlaFollow me on facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Marlas-Palette/132257403490097?ref=tsMarla's Palette website: www.marlaspalette.comEmail: marla [!at] marlaspalette.com
