Malaika Tolford's Profile

About

A Chicagoan in St. Louis and lover of all things art historical, anthropological, osteological, geographical, and cartographic.

My pieces are wheel thrown and are fully functional, decorated in motifs I've become familiar with through my studies of art history, urbanization, geography, physical and cultural anthropology, and archaeology. I'm attempting to explore the concepts of real and imagined place through the creation of affordable pottery that you want to put your morning cereal in.

In real life I work in the wine industry part time and teach art at a community studio. Recently I added motherhood into the mix. We welcomed Max into our world in May of 2014.
