katie Moffitt's Profile
I started muddy dog studio in 2001. The studio is named after my dog Emma, who loves to lay on the floor while I am working and she gets very muddy...thus the name. Before opening Muddy Dog, I taught ceramics at The Arts Council of Princeton. I studied at University of the Arts in Philadelphia and at New York University.
My approach to clay has been called whimsical, which is fine with me( I try not to take anything too seriously). I am serious about the quality of the work.
I use a wonderful white low fire clay and only lead free glazes and underglazes. My work is mostly functional so it can go in the dishwasher and the microwave.
I live and work in Princeton NJ with my husband and three kids and of course, Emma...the Muddy Dog....I also make ceramic Muddy Dogs.
