About

In formal terms I am a ceramic artist... but really I am an earth loving creative being who is deeply passionate about nature and all things squishy and sticky and odd. My full time mudworking takes place at the Energy Xchange in Burnsville, NC where I just started a 3 year residency. I have been a full time mudworker for the past 12 years and can say I am pretty darn "stuck in the mud" ! I just can't imagine EVER exhausting all its wonderful possibilities and capabilities.

Mudventions are my unique, inventive creations in mud. The very nature of clay being of the earth provides me with ample inspiration to free its inner spirit and create unusual forms that display a sort of earthiness mixed with sea overtones.

Being able to take a hunk of raw, squishy earth and transform it into just about anything one can imagine is beyond liberating to one who has an army of creative ideas running around doing somersaults and back flips in their head. Adding to that fun is the primordial magic of the ceramic process which allows me to connect with my inner pyromaniac magician to dabble in alchemy and cast creative spells.

Creations born OF the earth, WITH the earth and ON the earth... allowing the beauty of nature to be experienced and appreciated in all our waking moments wherever we may be in time and space.

You may discover more about me and see more of my collection of creations at my website: mudventions.com.
