About

I have always, always enjoyed sewing ever since my mom talked me into taking a 4-H class when I was about 8 years old. I like picking up fabric and thinking of the possibilities of what it could be. Sometimes, material just talks to you if you just listen.

When I had children of my own I often made many of their clothes as well as my own...some out of necessity when money was tight and some out of the pure joy I get when I can see the end result. I learned the art of hand smocking when my girls were small and found I really enjoyed the creativity this art form can produce. I don't think I ever store bought any of my girls dresses as they were growing up.

I went back to school and became a nurse when my children were in school. By then I didn't find much time to sew but still did an occasional item. As I started to work as a nurse, I had friends or doctors that I worked with that were having babies so I stared making smocked dresses and blankets for the newborns. I found it relaxing to smock at night after a busy day at the hospital and everyone loved the fruits of my labor.

This past year I have been losing my eyesight rather rapidly. While I still maintain my central vision, I have lost my peripheral vision and depth perception. As I am no longer able to drive I decided to retire from nursing. It was a big deal for me as I loved taking care of my little patients or "my little peeps" as I liked to call them.

Now what to do with my time! I fell back on the one thing that I have always enjoyed...SEWING!! I decided as long as I am able I will sew as a second career. I was steered to the Etsy site (I knew nothing about it) and decided to set up shop. Now for a name, I wanted it to be just right and after much thought I decided to take something from the job I loved and call it "my little peeps".

I hope you will love my products as much as I have loved making them for you.
