About

I was born and raised in Manhattan and went to school across the street from The Met where one of my first volunteer jobs was as Diana Vreeland's assistant in The Costume Institute. It was the late 70's and we were preparing the Diaghilev Nijinsky show. My job was to locate 10,000 ermine tails to match the missing ones from the inside of a cape. The clothing arrived disheveled and there were Russian seamstresses restoring everything to it's original perfection. There was a Twilight Zone room occupied with mannequins and mannequin parts from every era and a library for researching the clothes and accessories. This was heaven for me.

In the 80's and 90's I spent time in Los Angeles and worked as a Wardrobe Assistant in both film and commercials. I scoured the thrift stores and spent endless hours in the Costume Departments at Warner Brothers and Universal Studios. Western Costume in North Hollywood once had a blow-out sale where you could purchase munchkin costumes from the Wizard of Oz. I worked on a film starring James Caan and his son Scott, who at age 18 arrived for a pants fitting wearing no underwear. I was delighted.

Eventually I became a Personal Assistant to the 1% in New York City which included being their Wardrobe Stylist. I learned how to return custom altered designer clothing purchased at Trunk Shows from Barney's and about loaning one-of-a-kind designer pieces to museums around the world.

And now I've found my home on Etsy.
