Hi! I'm Larry Rutland. Trained as a structural engineer, I appreciate the esthetics of structure in nature and manmade objects such as flowers, trees, buildings and bridges. I first became interested in art in the early 1960's, starting with pastel portraits and landscapes. Later I used pen and ink with watercolor wash and then created full watercolors. I also produced some landscapes using oils. I am still a full time structural engineer, but I have also developed my private studio in my home and am offering adult flameworking and Precious Metal Clay classes.
I have just recently fallen under the spell of Precious Metal Clay as a jewelry making material and am now trying to marry the two mediums, Glass and Silver. I have completed a couple of combined pieces with a modest amount of success an will continue improving on my products. As an octagenarian I believe you can teach an old dog new tricks!
