My work is about what surrounds us in our everyday lives. It is a reaction to, and reflection of my surroundings, and of my daily-life experiences. The work documents how the world evolves and develops around me. In addition to personal, social and environmental changes, it examines developments in how materials are used, manipulated, combined and considered in society and in the studio.

I have the great fortune of not only being a full time artist, making and selling my fine crafted home and garden ceramic stonewares but also teaching a host of students ranging in age from 3 years old and up. I gain a lot from my students and their individual idea's and thoughts on ceramics, arts and the world. I spend a lot of time in the studio because ceramics demands that of its maker and i push myself to make sure that each ware is original and well done. So I have found that in the last two years of being a production potter it is refeshing to have moment when i get to break, reflect and then inspire and teach new aspiring potters, because they inspire and teach me. This is truly great as I have spent half my life working and understanding "the clay," some times being this committed to the process creates a narrow mind or view of the material and how and what it should be used for, but becuase at 9am on monday morning I might be make a "king turtle" the biggest clay turtle sculpture that a 5 year wants to make; to making the perfectly identical set of bowls or cup an hour later that a 23 old wants to make, it keeps me on my toes. So the work reflects these extrems and thus its modern, engaging and friendly, ultimitely creating not only visually pleasing but also texturally stimulating wares that reflect my interactions with my daily surroundings.
