Andra Aitken's Profile

About

Hi, I'm Andra Aitken, a dog-loving, crafty designer, living in the beautiful city of New Orleans. I began New Orleans Dog while I was finishing my Architectural Thesis. When Pedro, my adopted twelve year old dachshund, came to me 2 weeks before Hurricane Katrina, he was anxious and shivering. However, I quickly learned that he calmed down and seemed soothed when he wore his vest-like harness. So, inspired by this senior wiener’s love of clothing, I taught myself to screen print and began creating witty and playful graphic tees for dogs. My designs express passion for dogs, yoga, New Orleans, love and silliness. I hope my products bring a little laughter and a warm heart to your day.

Over the last few years, I have expanded my craft to paper prints, jewelry beading, metalsmithing and am now playing with glass!

Mission Statement:

New Orleans Dog, LLC is committed to the creation of beauty and levity in the world through a joyful design and production process. Because of our love for mother earth and all who dwell within, we endeavor to use eco-friendly, fair-trade materials in the creation of our products.

Oh, that ever so cute dog in the picture with me is Luna Lovegood. She loves ear scratchies, snuggles and filet mignon:)

Once upon a time I managed two etsy stores - NODogPress and Pejolu. I brought everything in to one location, here at neworleansdog.etsy.com.
