For my day job I am a project manager for an advertising company. Being so structured at work, I started experimenting with Mardi Gras beads at home to give myself a creative outlet. I've always loved to draw and create things out of objects that people would typically throw away. It became the perfect fit.
I currently live in Uptown New Orleans, hence why the beads were my first choice for upcycling. There is a romance that surrounds Mardi Gras that I am captivated by. There is a certain smell, a certain feeling. I try to capture that in all my pieces.
Each Mosaic piece I make takes between 1 to 3 weeks to make, depending on the complexity and size. Many "artists" that use mardi gras beads as their medium of choice simply cut the string in between the beads.
