Linda's Profile

About

Hello and welcome to my yarn store. I dye and spin for the pure pleasure of the art, but I get that extra bit of fun out of it when someone else enjoys my yarn and decides they would like to have it and create their own piece of art. So my profile is dedicated to you.

This is truly a hand spun adventure. The wheel I spin on, Schacht Matchless Wheel (do you want a wheel? Without any reservations I recommend this wheel), is an absolute joy to spin on. My other tools – knitty knotty, bobbin holder, swift, the room I spin in – were all made by my own loving, exquisite craftsman: my husband! On warm days (w/out bugs!), I sit out on our deck and listen to the birds, watch the woods--our neighbors have recently seen moose and bear; I'll keep an eye out--and smell the flowers just a few feet from the deck (can I hope that some of those smells will get incorporated into the yarn?).

On winter days, the sun shines into my spinning room and I can only hope that my joy at this life blends into my yarn.

When I'm not dyeing or spinning, we are usually out and about traveling in our '91 VW Westy, working as Fire Lookouts for the Forest Service (recently we've been Lookouts in Oregon), or working at our wonderful Blue Hill Food Cooperative.

There are no inside animals in the house in case you are allergic. I wash all my yarns and hang them on a rack (yes, my husband built it) so that we can enjoy looking at them until I post them to you in the mail.

I work very hard to ensure that the colors are portrayed accurately, but monitors vary and my forte is dyeing and spinning not photography!

My hope is that my yarns spread a little joy (well, actually..a lot!) around the world.
