{ABOUT MY NEST & MY FLOCK}
Hello, my name is Mandy. I live in a little brick house just outside the quaint historic city of Bordentown in NJ with my husband-to-be and our two children (boy 7, girl 1). Our home is surrounded by enormous oak and locust trees and we spend lots of time underneath them, enjoying the fresh air and open space. Together, the four of us make One Cozy Nest.

I am a homebody, so I spend a lot of time, like a good mama bird, making our little nest just so, constantly tweeking things here and there. It just gets more and more cozy and it feels like a true home. I blog about my DIY home improvement and crafting projects in hopes of inspiring others to do the same. I learn as I go and try to share the knowledge with anyone that stops by…

We like to take trips into the city to explore. My little man and I like to count how many dogs we see, visit the boat ramp, throw rocks into the Delaware, and talk to the local shop owners. My husband-to-be and I like to listen to and discover great music, cook dinner together (which means him cooking and me helping), and best of all, go junking together. He'll never admit it to his friends, but he's got the junking bug BAD! He has a good eye for vintage finds and helps me run the shop which has been really great. We are very happy.

{ABOUT ME}
As for me, I grew up in a NJ town located across the Delaware River from Philadelphia, PA. As a young girl, living along the Rancocas Creek, I always had a passion for nature and the environment. I dreamed of becoming a marine biologist and working for the EPA saving whales and dolphins. While I didn't save any whales, I did work for the EPA as a summer intern the year before I graduated college. I've been working in the environmental field ever since and I'm proud to say that I even got a Masters Degree in Environmental Policy. Now, I work full time as an ecologist, securing environmental clearances for transportation projects throughout the state of New Jersey.

I also remember that my mother and older sister enjoyed perusing antique shops and would spend hours scouring the aisles of the local flea market. I, however, loathed it. I just didn't get it. "Why would anyone want any of this junk?" I remember thinking. I'd whine and complain, asking over and over if they were done yet. Well, I'm all grown up and something has definitely clicked. Now I love anything with a history. I love the smell of musty old books and well-used linens. I love advertising and wooden toys from decades past. I love chipping paint and rusty metal. I love coming home from the flea market, my fingers black, flip flops dusty, after sifting through boxes of junk and walking down aisle after aisle in the sun. I've built my vintage shop, One Cozy Nest, out of love. My love for nature. My love for vintage. My love for the thrill of the hunt. I suppose it was in my blood all along.
