oo mimmi's Profile
My Grandmom lived with my Aunt Mimmi, and as a little girl of the ‘70s, we used to go to their house every Sunday afternoon for lunch with the family. The “oo mimmi” store is an homage to my Aunt Mimmi and her style. Mimmi was the type of hostess to present the lunchmeat for our sandwiches rolled and held with a toothpick. She had a serving tray made just for dill pickles and her plate to serve cheese and crackers had a little ceramic mouse with footprints on it. She was that kind of hostess. Everyone felt welcome at Mimmi’s table and even with her modest budget, she had an attention to detail that would put Martha to shame.
The kids would keep busy after lunch in her jewelry box filled with costume jewelry that my cousins and I used to model for the family. I never felt more glamorous then when I had on her shoulder duster sparkly chandelier clip-on earrings. They were bright red. Not subtle, our Mimmi.
