Cathleen Vought's Profile

About

At the Misty Manor, we provide a refuge for some of the skills that have largely been lost in the mists of the past. Like the old-world manor, we provide fine goods: glass, soaps, candles, and textiles created by our household, with our own hands.

No farm and no manor stands alone but is part of a wider community. We exist not just to make a living for ourselves, but also to preserve and pass on as many of the skills we have learned as we can. We conduct educational programs on and off the farm, participate in home school groups, and the proprietors were co-founders of the Well-Fed Neighbor Alliance, an effort to foster strong communities, local cottage industry, and a revitalized American economy.

Eric & Cathleen Vought live with their young daughter on a 10-acre sustainably-managed farm in Southwest Missouri, raising Shetland sheep, chickens, geese and horses with assistance from several working farm cats, Norbert the Aussie Shepherd (herd dog) and Amelia the Great Pyrenees (livestock guardian dog). We greatly enjoy our several annual events: Primitive Skills Day, Sheep-to-Shawl Weekend, weed walks, natural building workshops and other events as requested in the community.
