Al and I started leatherwork back in the hippy era of the early 70's. The style like many Australian leathercrafters was a rebellion against the vinyl mass produced products on one hand and the country style hand carved products which were just as repetitious as the factory made goods. Hobby became an alternative lifestyle business. Reality and children hit home and Al went back to a "proper job". As the children grew Al returned to leathercraft as the seachanges called.
With over 40 years of experience Al is known for the quality of his leathergoods and the diverse construction techniques used in his designs. Al has since retired, discovering the joys of growing and selling plants. I have joined his passion so I am making less and less leathercraft due to lack of time.
