Pedro and Danielle's Profile

About

Pachamama Native Art started out of our dream of making our living using our hands, Pedro’s love for beading, jewelry making, and creating, and Danielle’s love for adventure. In 2008, we set out for Pedro’s native Mexico, from Boston, where we had previously lived for eight happy years. We came to Oaxaca, a city filled with inspirational art, culture, food, music and people. Oaxaca is a really beautiful place to live and to find artistic inspiration. From the pre-Hispanic ruins to modern contemporary artists, and everything in between, it is impossible not to be amazed and inspired. It was (and still is) our hope that Pachamama Native Art flourishes so that we fulfill our dreams of having a little eco-friendly house and organic garden, and to continue bringing peace to the world through art and sustainability!

Everything you see on our website was made with love and enthusiasm by Pedro and most of what you see are his original designs. As for what inspires Pedro’s work, he spent many years living and traveling throughout his ancestral land of North America. His indigenous roots are from northern Mexico and is therefore Native American. He identifies and finds a lot of inspiration from the bead work in Native American Indian artwork, as well as from the Huichol bead work of northern Mexico.

Pedro’s work is constantly evolving; first, he would make beaded and bamboo necklaces and bracelets, then he learned silver and metal smith. He has made gold rings (including our wedding rings and Danielle's engagement ring), earrings, bracelets and necklaces. Then his work progressed into making beaded boxes, frames, rocks, shells and any other surface that could be beaded! Now, his most frequent and current medium is beading on the loom. This has opened his vision to making beaded bracelets, belts, bags, chokers, key chains... you name it!

Danielle works on making sure you find what you’re looking for on our Etsy website and corresponds with you directly. Danielle packages everything up with gratitude for your purchase, loving thoughts and positive intentions for you!

One last note, we have recently been expanding Pachamama Native Art into a small community focused beading cooperative so that others will learn beading techniques and share what techniques or gifts they have. On large orders, some others in our co-op may help out, under the supervision of Pedro. In addition to beading, Pedro currently offers workshops on loom beading and beading on objects with a social vision of community building. We also hope to eventually offer distance workshops so you can learn his techniques on video. So here we are, in Oaxaca, hoping that you enjoy our artwork wherever you are in the world! We'd love to Peace to you!
