About

Welcome to my shop, let me introduce myself...my name is Sarah.

This is a bit about me and my life.

My husband, Brian Hayes, and I run a small pottery and farm in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas of California. While he had established the pottery long before I came along, it was one of the first things about him I fell in love with, and I quickly went to work with him as a partner. Today we are attempting, as in the days of the old potteries and farms, to be as self supplementing as possible, so we have chickens, an orchard of mostly peaches that we share with our studio clientele, and summer and winter gardens. We try to minimize our impact in the world without depriving ourselves of the good things in life. And as artists we try to live close to the bone so that we can do what we love to do best, make art!…

My husband, Brian Hayes, and I run a small pottery and farm in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas of California. And as artists we try to live close to the bone so that we can do what we love to do best, make art!

Why do I do what I do?
As a child I loved playing with and sorting my mother's big tin full of buttons. It seems most natural then that as a clay artist I have begun to make clay buttons. The designs are endless and no two are ever the same.

It is my joy to be able to make wonderful little things that can be used, perhaps for generations, are unique, and can help you express yourself to the rest of the world.

Thank you for your interest,
Sarah
