A little about me...

Before starting my handmade jewelry enterprise, I worked in magazine publishing at Esquire, Sesame Street, Redbook, Time and The New Yorker magazines. I was also a painter and will resume that one day!

I loved my publishing career but always wanted to go back to my creative roots - I believe we all have many sides of our personalities to explore and knew by not doing anything creative, I was only living half a life. I had apprenticed as a silversmith while in college and learned to set stones, solder and cast, but had forgotten how wonderful it was to make beautiful things everyday!

My life is far away from the pressures of the corporate world and I am creating jewelry again!

I live near the beach and right on the river in Newburyport and the water is a constant source of inspiration! Photographs that I took in Thailand, Morocco, Italy, India and Nepal also inspire the colors I work with and the stones I choose as well as the integration of spiritual charms like lotus flowers, oms and buddhas into many of my favorite necklaces and earrings. The notion of tranquility and inner peace is something we all need to be reminded of. Last but not least, my love of all things from the Victorian age is sometimes reflected in the delicate designs of my jewelry.

I like to make pieces that are feminine and easy to wear. I usually try my new pieces out to make sure they work. I am a perfectionist and always use the best stones and materials I can find. That fact and the handwork and precision I put into my jewelry might make it a bit more expensive than some of my competitors, but you can see a difference.

I was profiled in Oprah Magazine about starting the career of your dreams and my jewelry was featured as a top pick in Westchester Magazine last year. My work has also appeared in the Westchester Wag, InStore Magazine (Oct 2012), Bridal Guide, Gift Guide, Jewelry Business Advisor and on More.com. Many of my handmaded earrings and necklaces are sold in the Sundance Catalog.

I hope you enjoy my work and would encourage your feedback! My website is www.pamolderdesigns.com if you want to see more!
