About

Pancakes and Noodles is a tale of two sisters, Jamie and Charity, 8 years 8 months apart in age. Both of us have been creative since birth and spring from a somewhat creatively inclined family. Between us we have only lived in Tennessee, Arizona, California, and Texas, though we have traveled the continental US extensively, in Jamie's case even prior to birth, when our mother flew to Colorado while pregnant. We have studied the native art of many regions in our travels and so one never knows when a bit of 'Southwestern Tribal' may peek out of a piece or perhaps a hint of 'Corn Belt Kitsch'.

Typically, children of such a large age difference do not bond in the same way that most children with only a few years between them do.

In our case, however, a mother-daughter-best friend bond was cemented and creating is one of our many common loves, so it seemed only natural to go into business together.

For years we tossed around ideas of what to do together, from starting a band (The Pissing Lilies), to a stand-up act (Two Damn Funny Bitches), but lack of funds and a distinct problem with swearing-in-title kept the projects from fruition. The business idea was scrapped altogether for a few years while we each pursued personal lives, until a tiny piece of clay and a gumdrop-shaped owl would change it all.

Pancakes and Noodles is an actual breakfast request once made by Charity, "because pancakes are gooood." Since it was a phrase that spoke both to the bond between us and the diverse nature of our work (and involved zero swearing), we knew it was right for the moniker of our new venture.
