My mom taught me how to sew when I was around seven with a crazy quilt pillow I kept on my bed for years. She used to make all of our Halloween outfits, the most memorable was when I was a trash bag, and my sister was the trash can. Those skills weren’t perfected until college when I took costume construction classes for my degree in Theatre. I was enthralled with the creative process and the different styles of clothing throughout history. My love of designing was really characterized in that sewing room behind the stage.
Papoose Clothing was started in 2010 by the approaching arrival of my niece, Harper. I wanted to create a few little keepsakes for her and became obsessed with making children’s clothes. After some thoughtful encouragement, the brand was launched shortly after and is currently based out of south Mississippi. My sewing and crafting ways are such ideal opportunities for me…
