Patrice Cake's Profile
I started studying metalsmithing at Univ. of Georgia in good old Athens, GA. many many years ago. I now live in Vancouver, B.C. with my two Canadian daughters.
Here's a little bit about my work:
I make each piece one at a time or in very small runs using reclaimed 14K gold (from old 14K jewelry I deconstruct or melt down), sterling silver, copper, reclaimed hardwood, and colored gemstones.
I wear-test my jewelry for comfort and livability. I use traditional metalsmithing tools and techniques- the basics, mostly: saw, file, hammer and torch.
I find inspiration everywhere, and usually design as I make. Work is love.
Convo me with any questions and I will do my derndist to promptly reply.Viva!
