About

Anna Florence, Always Yarning's mission is simple: create beautiful handmade and mostly one-of-a-kind knit and crochet hats for infants, children and adults at a reasonable price without compromising quality.

I've been crocheting since I was about seven years old when my mother taught me the fine art. I recently discovered I have the ability to knit. A feat I never thought I could accomplish. I tried for years after my mother passed away to knit. Sadly, I could never figure it out. While on a trip to visiting my oldest sister to celebrate her wedding, my sister handed me a box and needle pouch that contained every knitting needle, crochet hook and yarning tool my mother ever owned. I was very emotional at her gesture. Longing for my mother, happiness, love and comfort overcame me. I just wanted so much to be able to use each and every item in that old wooden wine box.

A few days after returned from my sisters, I decided to "test" the knitting needles. I opened the zippered pouch, took out a size 8 set of needles and completely expected frustration and failure. Much to my amazement, I started knitting like I was a pro. It was like my mother's hands at work. Before that day, I couldn't even figure out how to properly hold the needles and yarn and here I was knitting up a sweater. How could that be? Well, I'm convinced it was my Mother's spirit! Now, I crochet and knit items to carry on her tradition. Had my mother been alive today, I believe she would make millions on the items she made for anyone who asked!

The meaning behind my shop name?
Anna Florence , Always Yarning. My middle name is Anna. My mother's name was Florence and my daughter refers to my craft as "yarning". I think the name is perfect. A fusion of my mother, my daughter and me!
