Pamela Cohen's Profile

About

Although I took a few drawing classes in college, I was an English Major for many years. I discovered metal when I took some classes at the Ann Arbor Art Center at least 15 years ago, and was instantly hooked.

Jewelry has been seen as a repository of wealth, a sign of status, a functional closure, a symbol of affection, and pure decoration. It is one of the more intimate forms of art, as it is placed on an individual's clothing or directly on the body.

I am mindful of the relationship between artist and wearer, and hope my decorative pieces convey a love of creation, and a sense of whimsy.
