About

When I was little I couldn’t decide between wanting to be an astronaut or a fashion designer when I grew up. As it turned out I now hold a Ph.D. in Marine Science from the College of William and Mary and spent time as an Aquanaut living underwater off the Florida Keys! I am a full time professor in the sciences but when I'm not teaching or underwater, I make jewelry. My designs have a certain feel to them that appeals as every day jewelry but with a cool difference. They are modern, clean, classic and tightly edited but with a twist, a beautiful stone, a randomly placed detail, interesting texture or shape. Smart but DEFINITELY not boring. Hmmm, kind of like a Marine Biologist/Jewelry Designer...

I make every piece of jewelry myself from raw metal, wire, sheet. I set all my stones myself. I use traditional goldsmithing techniques such as lost-wax casting, forming and…

I use traditional goldsmithing techniques such as lost-wax casting, forming and soldering.

Because most of the time my pieces will be custom made I require 2-4 weeks to complete your piece. I will let you know the approximate time frame. My prices are not rock-bottom and I may take a little longer but what you get is a high quality, well-made personalized piece of jewelry of carefully selected high quality materials and workmanship.

Of course as a biologist I'm vigilant about being eco- and ethically conscious in my use of materials and most of my metal is recycled recycled and components are ethically sourced, old stock or vintage materials. I only use the most beautiful, high quality gemstones from non-conflict sources. You'll notice my packaging is recycled stuff - my awesome tags and signs are made by my friend Shirley!

I love the creative process of working with my customers on designs. Being a bit of an obsessive I have tons of different stones so you have lots of choices! Keep in mind there is always variation in natural stones, but that's the beauty of it!

THARS GOLD IN YER DRAWERS! Gold prices are through the roof! So here's a thought: Talk to me about remaking those ugly, nasty, gaudy, out-of-style (ex ?) gold pieces you have shoved in the back of your jewelry box. Why not cleanse them, reinterpret them, baptize them by fire? I'll work with you to make something you'll actually wear! With the price of gold these days and the havoc wreaked on the earth and on human beings by mining, well what could be a more perfect answer?? I will also accept gold as payment! Let's barter like the 49ers!
NOTE: I can do this with pieces without a lot of stones or solder (most chain won't work).
If you don't have gold in yer drawers, I do! And it's recycled from old jewelry so we can all sleep better at night.

I'm a member of Etsy Fest and the Florida Society of Goldsmith's.
